New Book, Becoming Whole, from the author of When Helping Hurts

(GoServeLove.net wishes to credit Brigada.com for the next three news items. Thanks for getting the word out to the missions world, Brigada!)

In this follow up to the dynamite When Helping Hurts, the authors of its new companion Becoming Whole: Why the Opposite of Poverty Isn’t the American Dream ask the questions, “What if we have the wrong idea altogether? What if the molds we are using to help poor people don’t actually fit any of us? What if the goal isn’t to turn other countries into the United States or to turn America’s impoverished communities into its affluent suburbs?”

The Amazon blurb continues,

In Becoming Whole…Brian Fikkert and Kelly M. Kapic look at the true sources of brokenness and poverty and uncover the surprising pathways to human flourishing, for poor and non-poor alike.

Exposing the misconceptions of both Western Civilization and the Western church about the nature of God, human beings, and the world, they redefine success and offer new ways of achieving that success.

Through biblical insights, scientific research, and practical experience, they show you how the good news of the kingdom of God reshapes our lives and our poverty alleviation ministries, moving everybody involved towards wholeness.

Fundraising Bootcamp

SupportRaisingSolutions.org invites you to one of three upcoming bootcamps around the United States, preparing you and helping you plan for effective fundraising from a godly perspective. (They authored our post, The Fix: For What Might Be Broken in Your Fundraising.)

Zoom…what?

Have you heard of Zume? We hadn’t. It’s “an online training platform to equip participants in basic disciple-making and simple church planting multiplication principles, processes, and practices.” It’s FREE, people–and so far available in nine languages, including Arabic, Spanish, Telugu, and more.

Brigada.com reports that from the kindness of donors, the development team at Zúme will be rolling out 31 other languages over the next year! (See the progress and which specific languages here.)

From Zumeproject.com:

Zúme means yeast in Greek. In Matthew 13:33, Jesus is quoted as saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a woman who took yeast and mixed it into a large amount of flour until it was all leavened.” This illustrates how ordinary people, using ordinary resources, can have an extraordinary impact for the Kingdom of God. Zúme aims to equip and empower ordinary believers to saturate the globe with multiplying disciples in our generation.
