Just in Time for Diwali: Understanding A Hindu Mind

Diwali, the Hindu festival of light, is November 6-10 (interested in praying during this festival? Click here for a free guide!). Indian neuroscientist Sai Anand communicates about God’s ingenius design of the human body, using it to share the Gospel. He’s written a fascinating article about his time as a Hindu, and how to share Jesus with the Hindustan population.

Are we really serving orphans well?

One of the sobering parts of working globally? Realizing that what seems unquestionably helpful, good, and righting the wrongs of the world…may eventually show itself to be harmful in the rearview mirror. And yet the greater sin, it seems, would be that of inaction, of paralysis from the mere possibility of royally screwing up.

The Church as a whole is largely evaluating its ministry to orphans around the world, and what truly helps. Catalyst Services offers this helpful article as we look to better serve the least of these.

Your Host Country Government: Myth of the Modernizing Dictator

Heading overseas often means wrestling with new, often confusing, angering, and/or unjust governments. Many global workers emerge from their host countries with a new appreciation for governmental systems, laws, and provisions they discover they’ve previously taken for granted. But then you’ve still got to deal with the ways you and your family–and particularly those whom you serve overseas–are sucked in by the undertow of troubling, often downright scary governments.

You may have heard of the recent stir over missing Washington Post contributor Jamal Khashoggi, who is suspected to have had a hit ordered on him by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The Post examines the “Myth of the Modernizing Dictator” in this well-argued read.

Social Justice & the Good News? Is there a Difference?

You’ve possibly heard of the 8,000 Christians who’ve signed the recent statement on social justice and the gospel. No matter which side of the debate you fall on, it’s worth talking about, praying about, thinking about. I found this article by Christianity Today’s Mark Galli and this one by Kevin DeYoung full of helpful insights. Tell us: What do you think of the debate?
